METHODOLOGY

Constructions of the Coral Transplants’ Substrates

The study is more on determining the most suitable coral transplantation method for the selected area that’s why two different substrates were utilized. This section is subdivided into three: a. construction of the hollow-block substrates and b. construction of the PVC-pipe substrates.

a.      Construction of the hollow-block substrates

There were 36 hollow-blocks utilized as substrates. Each cluster of hollow-block substrate consists of 12 hollow-blocks.

b.      Construction of the PVC-pipe substrates

Each assembly of PVC-pipe substrate is in the form of square. Each assembly has a dimension of 1.0 m by 1.0m. A total 5 meters of PVC-pipes were utilized in each assembly since it was constructed from 12 pieces of 25 cm PVC-pipes and 4 pieces of 50 cm PVC-pipes. The PVC-pipes were connected by the aid of Tee-pipes, elbow pipes and PVC-pipe solvent. The Tee-pipes have a diameter of 0.75 inch, enough for the coral fragments to be inserted.
