INTRODUCTION

Objectives of the Study

            The main objectives of the study are to conduct a successful transplantation of Acropora loripes and to promote ecological awareness among the residents of Barangay San Juan, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur where the study is conducted.

            Specifically, it aims to:

1.      Determine the growth and mortality rate of the coral transplants in the two different substrates.

2.      Determine the most efficient coral transplantation substrate for the selected area in Hinatuan Bay.

3.      Educate the residents of Barangay San Juan, Hinatuan by conducting an environmental awareness seminar

4.      Expand people’s knowledge and awareness of the social and environmental benefits of coral reefs, as well as various issues influencing coral survival

5.      Encourage people for the purpose of research, restoration and understanding of coastal resources and coral reefs.
